Shopping opportunities at Hampton Court

Pack your shopping bags, bring your credit card, there’s lots of fabulous shopping opportunities at this year’s RHS Hampton Court Flower Show says Jean Vernon

Everyone goes to flower shows for different reasons, but one of the unexpected benefits of visiting them is that you can get to see a wide range of top quality products in real life and speak to the people who know everything about them. So when it comes to gardening tools, greenhouses, firepits and even furniture you can look, touch and feel the merchandise before you part with your hard earned cash.

Now I’m not suggesting you break the bank, max out your credit cards or bust your overdraft limit, but I am recommending that if you’ve got something on your garden shopping list, that a visit to Hampton Court Palace Flower Show could be a very good way to do some research, take advantage of a special show offer and come home with something that you really love and appreciate. Here are five trade stands that really caught my eye at this year’s show with products that could help you make more of your summer garden.

East4West: stand 741

I simply love these beautiful garden parasols from East4West. Available in arrange of colours and sizes they are the perfect way to add shade to the garden and are a fabulous, colourful, sculptural addition to a summer garden party or patio. If the warm weather continues you can enjoy a little shade beneath their embroidered fabric canopy, while the sun beats down around you.

Uuni Wood-Fired Ovens: stand 380

Pizza ovens are the latest trend, but this little chap is a portable, tabletop affair that you fuel with little wood pellets. It quickly reaches pizza-cooking temperatures so that you can treat your guests to home baked suppers in a matter of minutes. There’s a great show offer available to visitors to the show where you can have a good look and ask all the questions that you want or need. stand 742

For a casual addition to the summer garden, consider these outdoor beanbags that can be used for informal seating, a lazy summer afternoon snooze or spare bed in the kids bedroom. Available in a range of colours, choose a bright shade to add some instant colour to your setting.

Garden Furniture Centre: stand 702

If you are planning a summer stay-cation and want to make more of your own garden then a visit to Hampton Court will enable you to see some of the fantastic products available. I loved the look and feel of this stand in the showground. It’s been set up to showcase a variety of lovely garden furniture in an authentic setting and is a great place to see what could be achieved in your space.

Redwood Stone: stand 382

Wow. If you’ve got a large garden (and a big budget) or a setting that is just crying out for a stone ruin, a folly or even a castle, then this is the place to go. You can’t miss their stand, there’s a fabulous Gothic Folly built on it, showcasing just some of the company’s work. It’s a fairy tale creation that can be recreated in part or whole in your own plot. You can have a rose arch, a pergola or a small corner wall or a castle ruin and everything in between, all made from reconstituted stone and creatively weathered to achieve a really realistic look.
